The Smartmarine

The idea of a demo boat kept coming around and when looking for a berth on the Grevelingen we came across this Etap22. Unfortunately neglected by the previous owner, but basically still a fine boat. In collaboration with Lockdowndream we went for a 'smart refit' in a week.

There were enough mussels under her for the whole winter. She had been lying still for 5 years. But it came off easily and the underwater ship still looked fine! No osmosis and a still perfect keel connection.

After 'cutting and shaving', she went on the hard. Took hours to get her cleaned with the high pressure washer, but the start was made. The hull and gelcoat also turned out to be very good.

The original 'orange-brown' will make way for black. But first a layer of Pre Koat from International. For practical reasons, a 1 component paint system was chosen.

The hull is fully matted and 2x polished and provided with 2 wax layers by Riwax. The surface-mounted edge has been given 2 layers of International HS Gloss, unfortunately some dust and flies due to painting outside are in the paintwork.

She has a new name! In the meanwhile, the bumper is back. An extra waterline applied and 2 layers of anti-fouling. In addition to new windows, the cockpit benches are covered with 'Flexi-teak from the east', let's see how that will hold up in the coming period.

And voilà she's back in the water! A 'refit' within a week is possible with hard work, mission completed. A Mercury Sailpower 4 stroke is ordered.

This Autohelm ST50 set in brand new condition is going to be fit and connected with a NMEA2000 network via the A26+. Retro style combined with modern tech.

Work in progress by CarbonSailing. A full carbon arial pole. This will fit a GPS antenna, AIS antenna and a separate VHF antennea.

The total set up will be:

Quark-Elec A26+, NMEA2000 network, Wind meter, ST50 log/speed/depth, Autopilot 1000+, Quark-Elec AS08 compass and OpenCPN on an Android tablet.
